We had the kids all excited last week, they couldn’t wait for Saturday to roll around, we had planned to spend the entire day at Adventure Island in Tampa, their favorite Water Park; We haven’t been all summer and this was going to be an end of Summer Splash ……. Until, we woke up Saturday morning and saw the thick, dark gray clouds on our Florida sky.
Needless to say, the kids where quiet disappointed and we had to come up with plan B quickly. So how about spend a few “dry” hours at the park and then off to Walmart so the kids could pick out a bunch of different snacks and we will make a Family Game Day at home. Since it was gonna rain cats and dogs, inside was our best option; we had the kids all excited again about what movies to watch, what games to play and what snacks to eat. So off to the park we went and spend a few “dry” hours minutes there.
The kids had a blast and totally forgot about the Water park; until the rain started to come in and we had to leave quickly. But at least, we got a good 30-45 minutes of fun play in before that was washed out as well. As soon as we made it to the car, check out how it started to pour.
Well…. off to Walmart we go, let’s see what kind of fun stuff we can find, to keep all three kids, remember we have a Princess (4) a brand new Teen (13) and then the “old” Teen (17), entertained during this rainy summer day in Florida. I had quiet the challenge ahead of me, they don’t ever agree on the same food or games!
We walked the aisles at Walmart looking for ideas on what to cook for dinner, until the Teen decided “How about Chicken Nuggets”? Tyson had an entire freezer section, so we let the kids pick some out, the next thing the Princess wanted “French Fries”. So off to the Ore-Ida Freezer section we went, they had a TON to choose from, from crinkle cut, thin to thick; we did manage to agree on the same French Fries cut and grabbed a few bags for our Family Fun Game night; now what would be a party be without Ketchup? Since I needed a bottle anyways, we headed over to grab a bottle of Heinz ketchup. To our surprise, on the bottle of ketchup, there was a coupon for $2/3 off if I buy all three, a Tyson chicken Nugget Bag, an Ore-Ida Fries product and a bottle of ketchup; we are in luck, all three where in my cart and the coupon was a go!
But by further investigation, the coupon also offered a #DipDipHooray Sweepstakes; how sweet was that, I would have to check it out when I get home. We love to win cool things!
We also checked out the game aisle to see what kind of fun games we could find; to my surprise Walmart had a HUGE selection of Hasbro Family Games. Most of them already live in our home and I’m sure the kids would find something to all agree on. BUT, they saw the Electronic Monopoly …in the cart it went.
While I walked through the aisles, I wanted something to snack on, too and decided to make an “Adult” snack, my kids would never eat it so it was just for Hubby and myself, how about Buffalo Chicken cups made simple?
This is how to make it:
- Soften the cream cheese
- heat about 15 chicken nuggets, cut the chicken nuggets into strips or cubes
- mix chicken in a bowl with the cream cheese, 1/2 of the Blue Cheese crumbles and Hot Sauce to your liking.
- Take the Pastry dough, cut into circles and line a muffin pan; bake the pastry shells on 450F for about 5 minutes
- Fill the pre-baked shells with the Chicken & Cream Cheese mixture and bake for 10-15 minutes on 375
Doesn’t this look delicious for a quick snack, appetizer or even dinner during your next Family Game night? It was simple to make and Hubby couldn’t stop talking about how delicious it was. So, give it a try next time you are looking for something new and simple.
Once we had all our Chicken Nuggets, French Fries and snacks ready it was time for our Family Game Night; we all hunkered down in the Teen’s new room and had a blast.
I just had to create a video to show you how much fun the game night was, or at least how silly my princess was during the Family Game night, she had a blast. Be sure to check it out.
Also, remember the #DipDipHooray Sweepstakes I found while shopping for our snack items? I went to the Dip to Play website and signup was super simple. Took me 1 minute to sign up and I was able to enter the 3 UPC codes from the Ore-Ida, Heinz Ketchup and the Tyson Chicken Nuggets that we bought at Walmart to unlock an online game. Super cool; we entered into the Sweepstake in seconds and now have our fingers crossed, maybe we will win something; rarely happens, but you never know. So, that being said, head on over and enter for your chance to win, the fine print of the Sweepstake is below, too.

I like buffalo chicken and usually put in a wrap with some veggies. I wish there was someone else in my house that shared the same pleasure so I could eat it more often.
