We love Books in our house. You can never have enough books. We have them in all shapes and sizes and even in German and English. Books are such an important step in a child’s life and so I came up with a Book Review Wednesday.
Each Wednesday I will introduce you to a new book that has been tested by my kids and mom approved …
I was elated when I was asked to review a new book from the “Touch the Art! ” Series called “Find King Henry’s Treasure” by Julie Apple and Amy Guglielmo.
Have you heard about Touch the Art Books ?
Touch the Art is an original, interactive series that gives kids the chance to discover the world’s most revered masterpieces through their fingertips: with fun, textured touch spaces, kids can tug, snap, lift and pull their way through art history.
The book is like a thick picture book, just perfect for little hands to sit and look at without worrying that they rip any of the pages. Very sturdy cardboard pages. Each page has some sort of sensory activity going on like touching the Tassel of Henry VIII or the feather hat of Grand Duchess Maria Flodorovna just to name a few.
The book reads very smooth and is a lot of fun; the Story in this particular book deals with a knight, a dragon, and stolen treasure: what a thrilling tale this Touch the Art has to tell! As the brave knight pursues a dragon who has taken the king’s jewels, he races past famous paintings of kings, queens, and other royalty. During the exciting chase, children can touch and interact with the paintings.
My Toddler was exited to hear the story and touch each page and find the texture in each picture. She is not old enough to understand the meaning behind the paintings but to her it was a fun picture book. Once she gets old enough we can look up in the back of the book, all the Artifacts about each picture. Which is actually quit interesting for myself I must say.
This is a very good book to introduce little ones to Art; We had a blast, what an amazing book.
Go check Touch the Art: Find King Henry’s Treasure out on Amazon.com$9.32 ( reg. $12.95), this would make a great Christmas present for a little boy or girl.
