As you all know we took a few days off over Memorial Day Weekend to spend with my Friend in Alabama; I just have to tell you about the Hotel that we booked.
We all know how it is traveling with kids, well, I had a toddler a tween and a teen and they all wanted to be entertained. I spend a few hours on Expedia.com and came up with a few hotel rooms; my target price was about $80 a night for the 5 of us.
I found this very nice place called Homewood Suites, I did a little research and saw that they had wonderful ratings. I saw some pictures and just knew, this was the hotel that I wanted to be at with the family. I don’t want to be cramped up in a tinny hotel room with two twin beds and 5 people.
Granted we probly wouldn’t spend much time in the room, but just the thought made me go crazy. The bad part was, the rooms started at $250 a night, I was not going to pay that kind of money just to have a little extra leg room, remember I’m cheap.
I found an awesome deal on Expedia.com for this Hotel, over the Memorial Day Weekend they had a sale for $84.99 a night, I was excited, they also had another offer, if you open a new credit card you will get an addl. $50 credit on your statement; Now my Room became a reality.
For 3 nights I spend $230 incl. Tax and any other fees for 5 of us to stay at a Suite that included a Kitchen, living room, bedroom and a bathroom; best part the hotel had a HOT Breakfast Buffet every morning FREE of Charge. If you travel Monday through Thursday the Hotel even has a Dinner reception as well as the breakfast Buffet .. ALL FREE OF CHARGE!!!!
How cool is that, so now for $230 for the 3 nights ( that’s $76.66 / a night) we spend at the hotel we also had FREE Breakfast for the entire family, each day we had a different breakfast buffet, they always had Bagels, Cereal, Milk, fruit, waffles and then changed sausages, bacon, eggs, potato’s, and so on each day. It was wonderful!!!!
We couldn’t have been happier with our stay at the Homewood Suits and I highly recommend anyone traveling this summer and wanting an little extra room with kids to check out Hiltons Homewood Suites and Expedia.com to find the best deal for this hotel.
Check out our room, now granted I took these pictures “AFTER” we moved in and it wasn’t as neat as the way it looked when we first arrived, or after housekeeping came each day, but I was so excited about this deal I had to share this room with you guys. The sofa where my teen and toddler are watching TV turned into a Full size sleeper sofa… the kids loved it…We had so much room for the 5 of us and 2 TV’s; we never had a fight over who gets to watch what, there was also DVD player.. the Toddler had to watch Gnomeo & Juliet a few times
Each room in our Suit had a 32inch Flat screen TV with I have no idea how many channels and we also had FREE Wi-Fi; each day housekeeping put Neutrogena shampoo, lotion and soap in the bathroom, which is my favorite kind of lotion.
The room was very clean, we did have some issues and it might be just me, being the clean freak, but the first thing I noticed when I looked out the window, the bug screens looked like Dryer screens, so dirty and Lind all over them, I had such a hard time not pulling them out and start cleaning them. That bothered me a little, but the rest of the room, the inside was very clean and housekeeping did a wonderful job picking up after us, which I had no clue that they even put my dishes into the dishwasher and turn it on ( so wished I could have taken her home with me..lol ).
The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful in any way, the only ones I didn’t really like where the ladies at Breakfast, they always found something to complain, looked really grumpy and unhappy to be there even at 8 AM, they always looked like they’ve been there already for 10 hours and could care less. I smiled and tried to be as friendly as I could, but no smile came back the manager on duty was very friendly and she, compared to the breakfast ladies, almost looked TOO happy and cheerful for 8AM in the morning..lol. She was super sweet and tried to make everyone happy.
Our hotel also had a wonderful pool, the kids and hubby had a blast; we spend one afternoon at the pool and it was so cool. I didn’t go into the water, I just wanted to rest, but everyone else did and loved it, they did have a little bit too much chlorine in the pool, the kids eyes were burning for two days ?? But was a very nice pool area with seating and even Two big BBQ Grills that we could use to have a party if we wanted to. So cool!
I have to tell you one more funny story; after an 8 hr. car ride I didn’t really care what my room looked like, I had my shorts and t-shirt looked all raggedy and walked to get us signed in; I felt like I’m a frumpy looking person walking into this Shicki Micki Hotel. It was so nice and HUGE anyways I got the kids into the room and within 10 minutes after we got to the room I saw Facebook messages pop up from my tween, teen and even Hubby and all said something to that extend “ Awesome room we have in Mobile, AL”… “Mom is the best, she got us this AWESOME hotel”…. I had a smile on my face, it was soo funny… I love my family .
Besides the wonderful Hotel, we did have an awesome time visiting my best friend Ursula and her family. Ursula is a friend that I grew up with back home in Germany and we had a lot to talk about, it was fun. Wish she wasn’t that far away, but 8 hr. drive is still better then a 11 hr. plane ride Can’t wait to see her and the kids again.
Now, this is what my Memorial Day weekend looked like, and I was not paid for this post nor asked to write this post and yes I paid the room 100% with my hard earned money and loved every minute of it. I wanted to write this post because I was so excited about such an amazing place that is a wonderful option for families that travel together and even with 5 of us in a room we had plenty of space and no extra charge . So keep Homewood Suites in mind for your next time you are in need of a Home away from Home ……
