It’s sad, but true. So many children are homeless across the nation. I look at my precious 3 monkeys all the time and couldn’t even imagine if we would be homeless and get sad every time I see a family living on the Street. The way the economy has turned, more and more Mom & Dad’s have lost their home for one or the other reason; The Family life has been disrupted or Mom just had to leave an unsafe environment and start over with the little ones in tow. No matter the reason, but the fact is still the same, the little ones need to be safe.
I decided that I will grab my 3 monkeys and partner with Energizer and Champions for Kids in the Energizer Light Up A Life Champions for Kids Campaign. Our assignment is to put together Survival Kits to help children in need to stay safe. I will follow up with another blog post and share what I’ve included in our safety kit later this month.
Have you heard of Champions for Kids? If not, let me introduce you to this AMAZING Campaign that can help so many children right in your very own community.

What does Champions for Kids do?
Champions for Kids works to mobilize MILLIONS of people by providing training and resources to improve the lives of children in communities across America and beyond. Our goal is to mobilize 20 Million people by 2020. -
What is Champions for Kids vision?
Our vision is to change the culture. Ultimate success is when there is a transfer of identity from Champions for Kids as an organization to Champions for Kids as part of our collective identity, who we are as a community and as citizens. Each year millions of children suffer silently and in many cases, die, not because we don’t have the resources but because of a massive failure of our imagination to engage more people in efforts to improve the lives of children in our communities. People care about our youth. They will help. We work to mobilize MILLIONS of people to be a force for good in their communities. If our plan works, then we change the life course for millions of children—for generations to come -
What are the results for Champions for Kids so far?
In six, short years, Champions for Kids has provided over $500,000 in challenge grants to local and state youth serving organizations. We have worked closely with 58 nonprofit organizations and 232 organizational leaders who collectively serve over 180,000 children in Arkansas and beyond (Kansas, New York, Massachusetts).

I encourage you to join in! It is a simple as putting together a few items that would be useful in an emergency and donating them to a shelter or organization in your area that serves children. They may not have the means to purchase these items and there are always people in need. Together we can be true Champions for Kids!
A few suggestions of items that you can donate, if you are a coupon shopper, a lot of these will be fairly cheap and maybe even free, just keep clipping these coupons for our children and help donate!
Band-Aids

hand wipes

Do you have items to add for a Safety Kit for our little munchkins? Any ideas are welcome and I can’t wait to take my 3 Monkeys and purchase some products and create some Safety Kit’s for the Children at Light House Ministries right here in our very own community.

Why did I choose Light House Ministries? It really was a tough choice, there are so many amazing organizations and children in need; but I decided that Light House Ministries would be a wonderful fit because they have an out of this world program (I call it that..lol) for their Children Ministries. They are truly reaching the youngest in the Homeless community. I love their concept and ideas and hope that our Safety Kits will be in good hands with the Children who need them most.
So…. We need your help and ideas.. shoot me Facebook messages, twitter messages or leave comments below on what items are much needed for little ones to be safe during a tough chapter in their young life. Let’s come up with some ideas to keep them not only safe but maybe also feel loved… Can you help me out….

That must have been a hard choice, but it sounds like you found a great organization to partner with. Those poor kids! So glad you’re helping out.

I think this is all so incredibly amazing and SIMPLE as you and Champions for Kids state. Each one of us can make a difference and if each one of us participates, things WILL change. I think a nice soft blanket would be a great addition to the kids. Something to keep them warm and to make them feel safe, as well as something to call their own!
