Quick Getaway to the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort At Orlando, Florida {Review}

As you know, I’m a Crazy Mom of three that works full time outside the home and still juggles the blog and everything else that needs to get done on a daily basis. We usually take the kids on a vacation during their time off in the summer, but this year we just had a lot of preparation to do for our big trip to Germany next year, plus we had to save some money as well.

We still wanted to do something fun and relaxing for the kids and myself as well, just get away, get out of this same ol’ same ol’ rut. We are a good 45 min from Orlando, so why not make a short weekend out of it close to home.

I always thought vacation you have to travel to different states even countries, I never thought about driving up to the next City for the weekend. It was actually nice. I’ve been here in Florida for over 15 years now, and I have never been a Tourist in Orlando. It was kind of strange, but super cool.

We booked 2 nights at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress Resort as our short getaway from reality. I had never been at any sort of Resort, but it sure looked wonderful from the pictures. We arrived at the 1500 acre resort just after a busy day at work and it was almost like jumping into a different life. Once we passed the gates to the resort, everything was calm, quiet and peaceful.

We couldn’t get out of the Aww’s and Ooo’s. It was breathtaking and hard to believe that this was in the middle of Orlando, Florida a busy city. I thought we had landed somewhere far away. Wonderful for relaxing.

The Resort features 18 stories shaped into a pyramid style design; there are 815 guestrooms and suites and meeting space inside this hotel. From old to young everyone has things to do and will be busy. Whether it be relaxing at the Half-acre outdoor pool with 12 waterfalls, two waterslides and a  sundeck or  play a round of golf at one of the Four exclusive Jack Nicklaus Signature Design Golf Courses that are right on the property.

They also offer camps for the younger crowd, 3-12 to be exact, with hands on activities so Mom and Dad can relax on their own or play a game of Tennis at one of the 12 tennis courts.

There is just so much to do, you can grab a bike and ride the entire property and take in some breathtaking views and landscapes or jump on a peddle boat or kayak and explore the 21-acre Lake Windsong.

We had a blast; the rooms are modern and just underwent a $54 million renovation and you can tell that a lot of European detail was brought in to the rooms. I loved it. We spend very little time in our room, we were so busy exploring the property.

Although Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress is only a short distance from any of the major area attractions like Disney and SeaWorld, we did not leave the property. There was so much to do and we  enjoyed a relaxing nap at the pool and just soaked up the Florida sun without the hassle of traffic or crowds.

At night we were even able to see the Fireworks from Disney right from our room; it was breathtaking. They had two shows at 9PM and 10PM…. beautiful and so much nicer without the hassle. The pool is open 24hrs. , which was nice, we could get a nap  during the day when it was really hot and spend a few extra evening hours with the kids at the pool.

What a fun getaway and so close to home; We had a blast and got spoiled a little by the wonderful housekeeping that came and constantly cleaned our room, it probly was only once a day, but it seemed like every time I turn around my room was tidy and neat. Loved it; housekeeping was wonderful super friendly and very accommodating. With 3 kids and 2 adults we needed more towels and not a question asked. Thanks Nisrine for making us feel welcome and at home, job well done!

We also have to mention that the Front Desk Clerk, Rafael was wonderful to work with. He signed us in and anytime I had an issue he seemed to be the one to handle it for me. I remember one instance that right after our arrival, I realized that I forgot my entire Toiletry bag, I had the kids stuff and hubbies stuff, but mine was still sitting at home on the counter. I was going to run to  a Wal-Mart or Walgreens to get, ya know… the basic like Toothbrush, razors. I had mentioned it in a conversation to Hubby and Rafael overheard us and graciously offered us Hotel Samples. How nice was that, he also was the one to check us out and the hotel has Towel cards for the pool, I lost ours, no idea where and what we did with them after checkout, but Rafael had an answer to that as well. He handed me without a question 5 new cards so we could enjoy the last day at the pool, after we had already checked out of the Hotel.

Super Job Rafael, thanks for making our stay wonderful and worry free. Of course there are many wonderful people that we encountered along the way, since there are 9 restaurants on the premises you really never have to leave the resort.

We had breakfast at Cascade, which offers casual dining for breakfast and lunch and has a view of the 35 foot indoor waterfall, but they also have a breakfast Buffet on the weekends. It was wonderful, European inspired pastries,  omelets, pancakes, waffles, fruit, bread, cereal and yogurt are just a few that I remember. The kids had a blast and enjoyed every minute of the breakfast. We actually were so full that we skipped lunch and ate an early dinner. Which is a HUGE statement, because hubby wakes up and wants to eat and he doesn’t stop eating till we go to bed, he drives me crazy asking for “What’s for lunch, what’s for dinner”..all day; not a word out of him!

The Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress also has a permanent resident named Marlo. Check him out in our video below, we had a blast with Marlo and a lot of other fun things we did like rock climbing Smile.

We spend the entire three days touring the property and relaxing at the pool. If you ever need a getaway, look in your own backyard. You just don’t know what you are missing. A relaxing vacation can be in driving distance and you wouldn’t even know it. We had a wonderful time and are dreaming of our next stay at the Hyatt Regency Grand Cypress in Orlando. We will be back for sure.

I have been to Orlando over 100 times and I am always looking for a nice place for my family and I to stay. We have been to Disney – but we prefer to camp there. This hotel actually looks like it has alot to do WITHOUT having to go to the parks – I really appreciate that! Great review – I look forward to visiting.

Wow! It looks and sounds wonderful! I would love to have a relaxing weekend there lounging by the pool. I think I would like to try the peddle boats or just walk around and take in the view. I had no idea there were places like this!

What an amazing looking property! Staycations are the latest thing around her and the cities even promote it. “Why spend an arm and a leg to go elsewhere when there’s so much to do here.” That seems like totally the case for you. So many families could make quite a destination of a beautiful resort like that. Wish we had something THAT nice around here!

Oh my gosh! This sounds like such an amazing, relaxing, wonderful weekend away!!! Your pictures are beautiful. I’m especially partial to your breakfast pictures since my hubby is a chef and we have trouble going on vacation where the food is less than great. But this looks fabulous! Too bad I live in Michigan, however, I’d absolutely consider going here for an out of state family vacation. It definitely seems like a great alternative to staying right at Disney. Sometimes staying there can be overwhelming with three small children like mine. Hmm… now I’m going to be drooling over their website planning MY next vacation!!!
